IARG 2016 and 2017

First of all, we would like to wish you all a wonderful new year 2017. Hopefully it will be another year with exciting exchanges, opportunities and collaborations. We would like to share some pictures of our first Annual Meeting which took place in November 2016 in Turin. It was a successful conference with interesting papers and keynotes, and the very first conference in Italy on religion and gender. Thanks to the organizers from Turin!

img_6627At our annual meeting the official report and budget of IARG were approved. The documents can be found here. Furthermore we exchanged ideas for future IARG events, like the summer school and biannual conference and possibilities for organizing IARG sessions at other conferences, like the AAR. Our Facebook page and e-mail list can be used as platforms to further discuss collaborations and ideas. We also promoted the affiliated open access journal Religion and Gender.

img_66062017 will bring new opportunities and activities. We are busy organizing an IARG summer school at the Centre for Gender and Diversity at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. It will be an advanced summer school focusing on critical postcolonial, post-secular and queer perspectives in the study of religion and gender. The summer school will take place from 17-21 May 2017 and aims at advanced MA students, PhD-candidates and other scholars whose research is situated in the interdisciplinary study of religion and gender. We also try to include a conference day during the summer school where everybody can participate. A call for applications will follow soon.
